With the introduction of the Exped Sleeping Mat Line a decade ago, those who gave up camping because of uncomfortable technology (i.e. Blue Foam pads, Thermarest, Big Agnes) were able to return to sleeping on the ground in comfort. The 3” loft in each Exped mat is superior both in comfort and in providing warmth.
Exped creates a wide variety of mats to suit every need. Here’s a brief rundown of what you get with each one.
- Airmats – The lighest and most packable mats in the lineup, these mats will insulate your underside and keep you warm down to +52°F. If it’s just a trip to Sturgis or the coast, this mat should suit you fine.
- Synmats – Filled with a light synthetic layer of insulation, you’ll stay comfortable and warm down to a temperature of +1°F. If you enjoy 3 season touring and find yourself camping out at 6,000’ from time to time, this is the mat for you.
- Downmats – The warmest Exped mats, these are filled with down and will keep you warm down to -11°F. Perfect for your polar expedition.
- ComfortFoam – for those with back ailments requiring memory foam contouring, these self inflating mats are the largest mats in the Exped line. Warm down to +1°F
All mats and pillow ship with their own patch kit, just in case.
